План - конспект уроку на тему : « Навколо світу. Лондон.»(6 кл.)




Topic. Around the world. London.                                .
 Aim:    to enrich the pupils’ knowledge about the places of interest in London; to train pupils in listening;  to revise the definite article “ the”; to enrich  pupils’ vocabulary on the topic; to develop pupils’ imagination; to develop love and interest to the world culture.                 
Equipment:    books, workbooks, a notebook; leaflets .
Procedure
I.  Greeting .
T. Good morning, everybody. I’m glad to see you. How are you today?
Aim .  T.  Today we’ll have a very interesting topic – London. You’ll learn more about this city, its sights, we’ll practice in listening, revise the definite article, and play on-line game. So let us start our lesson.
 II. Warming up.  T. We have talked a lot about different countries and cities. Let’s revise the cities and countries we have visited already.
Here’s the leaflet you have made about the most popular tourist places in each country , so let’s see at them and say what country it is associated with. (pupils’ answer).
 III. Main part.
A. Presenting new  vocabulary.
T. Now have a look at the blackboard. Let us read  new vocabulary and try to guess their meaning. (the teacher explains  the  meaning of the new words and pupils guess it.)
  B. Listening .
T. And now let’s  watch the video  about London. Listen attentively because then you’ll be given some questions.
Checking  up listening skills.  
T. So, let’s check what have you understood. Answer my questions , please. 
1. How many people travel into London every day?
2. Where do tourist want to take a ride?
3. How is the Clock Tower bell called?
4. How often does it chime?
5. Along what street are shops opened for business by 10 o`clock?
6. Where does the changing of the guard take place?
7. When does it take place?
8. Is it a new or an old tradition?
9. What do the Londoners usually have for dinner?
10. Why is the weather in London often bad?
C. Revising grammar material.
T.  While speaking about countries and cities we often use the definite article “the”.   Let’s revise  its using. (pupils’ answers.)
T. Here’s the task for you to fill in the definite article the where it is necessary( pupils do the task and comment it).
D. On-line game. Work in groups.
  T. Now let’s make sure how well you know geography because our unit is connected with geography now. I recommend you to play a Spin Off Geography  game. But first I’ ll divide you into two groups in order to see which group  is better at Geography.
IV. Home assignment.
